About
Theology for slow reading
Ensarkosi publishes serious theological articles from the Anglican tradition and from other Christian traditions. The pages are set for long reading, with notes that can be followed and with the source of every piece stated.
The name
Ensarkosi is the Greek word for the Incarnation, the Word made flesh. The site begins with the Fathers' own treatise on it, St Athanasius, On the Incarnation of the Word.
Sources and permissions
Every article shows its author, where it was first published, and the permission under which it appears. An article is published only with the permission of the author or the rights holder, or when it is in the public domain. Works from the Fathers are given in public-domain translations, and each page names its translator and edition.
Your place in a work
When you read a long work, Ensarkosi remembers where you stopped, so you can pick it up again. The place is saved in this browser on this device only. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data forgets it.
Reading in the dark
The page follows your device's light or dark setting. The button at the top switches between a vellum page and a candlelit one, and remembers your choice on this device.
